American Airlines Carry On Baggage Fees & Pets Fees
On your flight, you are allowed to bring one carry-on bag and one personal item. Your carry-on bag can only be a maximum of 22 inches high, 14 inches long, and 9 inches wide.
Pets are only permitted on certain flights. The pet in its carrier counts as one carry-on item on American Airlines. Pets must be transported in a carrier that allows them to stand, turn around, and lie down in a natural position.

American Airlines Check In Baggage & Excess Baggage Fees
For domestic flights, the first bag is $30, the second is $40, the third is $150, and any additional bags are $200. Excess baggage fees will apply if a bag exceeds the dimensions or weight limits set by American Airlines' baggage allowances. Again, these vary depending on the route taken. Overweight and oversized items are subject to additional fees. Bags weighing more than 50 lbs/23 kg but less than 70 lbs/32 kg will be charged $100 per piece if travelling within and between the United States, the United States Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Canada. Baggage weighing more than 70 pounds/23 kilograms but less than 100 pounds/45 kilograms will be charged $200. A bag with total dimensions greater than 62 inches/158 cm will be charged $200. American Airlines allows you to bring one personal item and one piece of carry-on luggage with you.
